Summon Contracts (historically recorded as Summoning Contracts or Spiritual Covenants) represent the core operational mechanism, legal boundaries, and spiritual ties that bind a mortal practitioner to a manifested entity within the Realm. Rather than a forced enslavement of raw power, a contract operates as a voluntary, mutual agreement between a spirit and a summoner. They are systematically archived within the primary Summons of the Realm index.

Overview

Every summon contract throughout Ensla is entirely distinct, unique, and tailored to the cosmic architecture of the specific entity being bound. To establish a connection, a spirit forces the candidate through an independent, highly specialized Trial.

The primary objective of a contract trial is not to measure raw, brute force, but to carefully evaluate how well the summoner inherently understands the personality, structural mechanics, and elemental composition of the spirit testing them. If an entity concludes during the trial that the candidate lacks sufficient internal compatibility or psychological attunement, they hold the absolute authority to flatly deny the contract, instantly fracturing the link.

The Risk of Failure

While a standard rejection from lower-tier Silver Summons typically results only in temporary focus exhaustion or minor mana blowbacks, attempting to bind high-tier major orders carries catastrophic risks.

In elite, highly specialized keysets—most notably The Bifrost and the Hall of Two Truths—the trials manifest as unyielding, literal "flavors of death." Because these entities represent raw cosmic balance or primeval cataclysms, the rejection of a contract is completely absolute. If the candidate fails to assert an unyielding willpower or misunderstands the spirit's truth during these advanced evaluations, the trial ends in immediate, horrific physical or mental death.

Contract Classifications

Covenants are traditionally categorized into four distinct mechanical structures based on how they are initiated and sustained over generations:

  • Hereditary / Bloodbound: Locked tightly to the genetic markers and soul-echoes of specific mortal families, such as the Hall of Two Truths being restricted exclusively to the Takida bloodline. Only one wielder can command the set at any given time.
  • Star-Class Titles: Apex cosmic crowns originally forged by the Major Gods, granting humanity an active voice in the divine weave of fate on Ensla. These require unique buffers (like the artifacts detailed on the Keys of the Six points of Humanity ledger) to withstand the immense focus-drain.
  • Sentient Symbiosis: Used exclusively by the Great Weapons registry. These independent, awakened planetary armaments and living plates choose their hosts based purely on martial honor, physically wrapping around the caster.
  • Starlight Open-Pacts: The foundational backbone of the global economy, anchored to the constellations of the Silver tier. These range from permanent, low-drain companions to temporary, combat-ready tool artifacts.

Mechanics of the Covenant

  • The Trial Attunement Coefficient: The higher a summoner's compatibility score during their trial, the less stamina is consumed during active battlefield deployments. A perfect attunement allows for seamless, multi-key manifestations.
  • The Fracture Penalty: If a wielder attempts to force a spirit to commit an act that entirely violates their core alignment or ancestral taboo, the contract boundaries will instantly rupture. This causes a massive, dangerous feedback loop that can permanently burn out the user's casting circuits.
