The high-speed, heavily armed black airship has 100 passenger cabins, two large cargo bays, docking ports for six strike ships, four overcharged main engines, military-grade weapons, and a phase engine. Each Fairstar child receives a custom ship designed from birth and given at sixteen.

Austeel and the Starluna

Austeel Fairstar is Ranier's twin and a Weapons-master Summoner. At 23 in his character reference, he captains the Starluna, a high-speed privateer airship with the celestial ship spirit Argo. Its navy-blue, constellation-patterned hull has a bird-of-prey design. It has two turbocharged engines, a phase drive for wormhole travel, a front-mounted Jupiter cannon, two strike ships, two cargo bays, and twelve passenger cabins. Austeel also contracts a Hydra spirit and summons legendary weapons including Asi and Excalibur.

Solomon's leadership and the family's exile

Inheritance and marriage

Solomon Fairstar is the patriarch and father of nine children. He inherited the title Marquis of Sweorta and the family shipping business from his father; his brothers left to establish families elsewhere. He married Amelia at eighteen, and together they chose to raise a large family. Amelia is the love of his life.

Lorence's magic and persecution

When their youngest son Lorence was four, his White Miasma manifested. Although the family was known for summoning, other magics sometimes appeared. Lorence's magic proved healing, purifying, and regenerative. He was a sweet-tempered, affectionate child who loved his siblings and welcomed hugs.

The Magic Control Council, led by Donagen Trumpell, believed White Miasma dangerous because it was half of a special paired or “Twin” magic. Lorence was a single birth; the pairing referred to an opposing Black Miasma mage somewhere else in the world, whom the MCC sought to find.

The MCC kidnapped Lorence and took him to a military research facility. Solomon used his resources and legal influence to recover him. After a month, Lorence returned injured, bruised, underweight, and weak, no longer smiling. Doctors and his family's care helped him begin to recover.

A year later, the MCC took him again. Despite lawyers and appeals to elders and the governor, he was held for almost a year. When returned, he showed the effects of torture and experimentation: silence, fear, and nightmares. It took months before he could sleep through the night. Even court orders barring interference did not stop daily demands that the family surrender him, and repeated seizures continued.

Rescue and the battle in the sky

After another abduction, Austeel attacked and leveled the facility to rescue Lorence. Solomon was already fighting for Lorence's release at MCC headquarters when he learned what Austeel had done. After years of seeing the government ignore its own laws, he resolved that the family would protect both sons, strike MCC facilities, and leave Sweorta together.

During the pitched aerial battle, Solomon's flagship, the Patriarch, held the MCC fleet away from his children's ships. Palance raced ahead to help Austeel, whose ship was crippled. Palance secured Austeel's escape; Lorence reached White Sea in Bosco. Palance agreed to marry Ephraim VonVoss to obtain the protection and parts needed to repair Austeel's ship and get him to Bosco.

Dolfeini and Eventide Bay

Without a home, Solomon accepted Hestor Kedanza's offer to join the Boscan clan Dolfeini. The clan had lost its armada years earlier. The Fairstars would gain a home, protection, Boscan citizenship, and freedom from extradition; Lorence could be safe. Based at Eventide Bay, the family fleet would become the armada Dolfeini had lost.

Solomon regrets not attacking the MCC sooner over its treatment of Lorence, but does not regret choosing his family's safety. The family motto is “One Sky. One Family.”

Solomon, Pavo, and the Patriarch

Solomon is 48 in the supplied reference, 6'7" (201 cm), and a large, powerful, athletic man with long wavy half-black, half-white hair and sea-blue eyes. A Celestial Summoner, his first spirit was Pavo the Peacock. She stays protectively near him, often resting on his shoulder.

He is a strong leader, loving father, shrewd businessman, exceptional captain, strategist, shipowner, and family head. His skills include celestial summoning, ship command, naval strategy, diplomacy, business management, politics, negotiation, combat, and leadership. He is decisive, loyal, and fiercely protective, willing to do anything for his children.

The Patriarch is his 320-foot capital-class flagship and the fleet's command ship. Its celestial-inspired design bears peacock motifs. It has a phase drive for wormhole travel, four overcharged engines, strike ships and support craft, luxury and strategy command decks, and serves as a symbol of Fairstar family unity.

Amelia and the Foundation

Amelia Fairstar is the family's matriarch, former Marchioness of Sweorta, and captain of the Foundation. A Celestial Summoner, she is accompanied by Nyx, a loyal, protective celestial crow spirit. Fiery, intelligent, loving, and determined, she is a strategist and business leader as well as the mother of nine.

The Foundation is a town-sized flying fortress, the family home and fleet center. It has over 5,000 cabins, a crew of 700, landing bays for all Fairstar ships, shipwright and repair docks, stores, markets, ateliers, libraries, dining halls, theaters, pools, running tracks, full training facilities, a medical wing, healing gardens, and defensive armaments. It also functions as a mobile command center.

Jennifer and the Wanderlust

Jennifer Fairstar captains the Wanderlust, a heavy blockade runner smaller than the Foundation and larger than most Corsair-class ships. Built for speed, stealth, and resilience, it has advanced celestial shielding, expanded cargo holds, hidden compartments, practical luxury crew quarters, and defensive armament. Jennifer is a Celestial Summoner and Starbringer; her contract includes Astra, a loyal, protective celestial star spirit. Her motto is “Live Free. Protect What Matters.”

Ambrose and the Breaking Dawn

Ambrose Fairstar is a Celestial Summoner and captain of the Breaking Dawn, a high-speed, heavily armed, bird-inspired winged airship with luxurious crew quarters, extensive cargo capacity, and advanced celestial shielding. His contract includes Astra, a celestial star spirit. Lighthearted and gregarious, he remains a reliable, disciplined captain and loyal family member. His motto is “Same Sky. Brighter Days.”

White Sea story

The escape begins with eighteen-year-old Austeel rescuing twelve-year-old Lorence and drawing the MCC fleet away aboard the damaged Starluna. Lorence reaches White Sea; Palance negotiates a Pergrandian marriage alliance to protect the family. These are ages at this point in the story, rather than replacements for the later ages recorded above. (White Sea, Chapters 1–4.)

The family's great city-ship, the Foundation, helps establish new docks and working facilities at Eventide Bay after their displacement. Solomon subsequently brings the family together in Bellum to discuss joining the Pirate Lords. (White Sea, Chapters 12 and 19.)

Jennifer, also called Jenny, is a sword-specialist Weaponsmaster Summoner. After Lucille Alderis's death, the existing Points choose her as the new Starbringer. She joins the restored Six Points in their appeal to the gods. (White Sea, Chapters 36–37.)
